چكيده :

Lithium iron phosphate/carbon (LiFePO4/C) composites were prepared by aconvenient method with

water-soluble phenol-formaldehyde resin as the carbon precursor.The morphology,crystalline structure,

thermal stability, and composition of as-prepared LiFePO 4/C composites were investigated by scannin g

electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction,thermogravimetric analysis,and Raman spectrometry.Their elec-

trochemical performance was examined based on cyclic voltammogram with aLAND battery testing sys-

tem while the effect of carbon content and calcination temperature was highlighted. Results show that

carbon content and calcination temperature dramatical ly influencethe discharge capacities and rate per-

formance of LiFePO 4/C comp osites. The optimal calcination temperature is 700 C, and the optimal carbon

content (mass fraction)is 8.7%.The LiFePO 4/C composite prepared under the optimal conditions exhibits

an initial room temperat ure discharge capacity of 150.2 mA hg1 at a 0.2 Crate and aconstant discharge

capacity of about 105.7 mA hg1 at a 20.0 Crate after 50 cycles, showing promising potential as anovel

cathode material for lithium ion batteries.

Unit commitment problem with ramp rate constraint using a binary-real-coded genetic algorithm 2013
نويسندگان : Dilip Datta
فرمت: pdf

چكيده :

The unit commitment problem (UCP) is a nonlinear mixed-integer optimization problem, encountered

as one of the toughest problems in power systems. The problem becomes even more complicated when

dynamic power limit based ramp rate constraint is taken into account. Due to the inadequacy of deterministic

methods in handling large-size instances of the UCP, various metaheuristics are being considered as

alternative algorithms to realistic power systems, among which genetic algorithm (GA) has been investigated

widely since long back. Such proposals have been made for solving only the integer part of the UCP,

along with some other approaches for the real part of the problem. Moreover, the ramp rate constraint

is usually discussed only in the formulation part, without addressing how it could be implemented in an

algorithm. In this paper, the GA is revisited with an attempt to solve both the integer and real parts of the

UCP using a single algorithm, as well as to incorporate the ramp rate constraint in the proposed algorithm

also. In the computational experiment carried out with power systems up to 100 units over 24-h time

horizon, available in the literature, the performance of the proposed GA is found quite satisfactory in

comparison with the previously reported results

Resisting hybridisation between modes of clinical risk management: Contradiction, contest, and the production of intractable conflict 2013

چكيده :

This article explores and explains escalating contradictions between two modes of clinical

risk management which resisted hybridisation. Drawing on a Foucauldian perspective,

these two modes – ethics-orientated and rules-based – are firstly characterised in an original

heuristic we develop to analyse clinical risk management systems. Some recent sociologically

orientated accounting literature is introduced, exploring interactions between

accountability and risk management regimes in corporate and organisational settings;

much of this literature suggests these systems are complementary or may easily form

hybrids. This theoretical literature is then moved into the related domain of clinical risk

management systems, which has been under-explored from this analytic perspective.

We note the rise of rules-based clinical risk management in UK mental health services

as a distinct logic from ethics-orientated clinical self-regulation. Longitudinal case study

data is presented, showing contradiction and escalating contest between ethics-orientated

and rules-based systems in a high-commitment mental health setting, triggering a crisis

and organisational closure. We explore theoretically why perverse contradictions emerged,

rather than complementarity and hybridisation suggested by existing literature. Interactions

between local conditions of strong ideological loading, high emotional and personal

involvement, and rising rules-based risk management are seen as producing this contest

and its dynamics of escalating and intractable conflict. The article contributes to the general

literature on interactions between different risk management regimes, and reveals

specific aspects arising in clinically based forms of risk management. It concludes by considering

some strengths and weaknesses of this Foucauldian framing.
